MEYSPRING’s Artist of the Month - May 2021

We are delighted to share with you MEYSPRING’s Artist of the Month, @art.by.pavi! Pavithra Kannan is a Texas-based, self-taught mixed media artist who creates absolutely luxurious resin pieces.

Here at MEYSPRING, we have truly enjoyed watching her grow as a resin artist and continue to create bigger and more intricate pieces!
Pavi creates gorgeous resin geode wall art pieces and mesmerizing homeware that are sure to bring some glamour into your home or office! She creates her larger geode shapes completely by hand- either with wood or plexiglass, making her designs completely one of a kind! From her smaller works of art such as coasters to gigantic geode pieces, we love that each one contains beautiful attention to detail with bright, vibrant color schemes.

We’ve spoken with Pavi for a little Q&A about her work!
How long have you been working with resin?
I have been working with resin for almost a year now. It all started with making 2D koi fish for one of my projects and I was fascinated with the resin properties and never looked back.
What is your favorite pigment color?
Hard to pick one! I would say Mermaid Dust, Rose Quartz, or Shiny Malachite
Mermaid Dust is one of my favorites. I love the in-between shade of blue and green.
What makes/made you choose MEYSPRING pigments?
First of all the quality of the pigments; they dissolve very well with resin (blob-free) and I must say that I love the depth and texture that the pigment gives.
Where do you find your inspiration and/or motivation?
Nature is my primary source of inspiration. I’m mesmerized by the natural colors.
Any words of advice for artists that are wanting to create resin art?
Just try, never be afraid to try something new. Think of what you’re doing as an experiment, enjoy the process and the colors. Patience is the key.
