Materials You'll Need

Here is the complete list of supplies we've used:

Step 1: Adding Crushed Glass Areas

Start by adding your glass chip adhesive to the prepared wood round using a needle-nosed applicator. Design the shape or pattern you want your crushed glass to follow, then gently pour the chips over the glue.

Don't worry about perfect placement—you can easily adjust the chips using a stir stick, gloved finger, or bead placer!

Once you're happy with the design, seal the crushed glass in place by dripping more adhesive on top. This ensures every piece is secure and ready for the next step! If you miss one, don't worry - it will get sealed with the final resin flood coat!

Step 2: Pouring the White Resin Areas

Put on your PPE—gloves, respirator, and apron! Then, mix up a small batch of crafting epoxy resin. In this case, we used approximately 100g (3oz) of resin with three pumps of white pigment paste. However, this amount will vary depending on the size of your eggs and how much of this shade you'd like to pour.

After thoroughly mixing the epoxy and pigment paste, allow the resin to thicken for at least 5–10 minutes or until thickened sufficiently before pouring. A thick consistency provides more control over the design and allows the resin to cling to edges instead of flowing off.

When your resin is thick enough, it's time to pour! Use a stir stick to carefully guide the white resin into the negative space between your crushed glass designs and fill in any gaps. Repeat this step for each of your color-themed eggs.

Once all the white areas of your designs are done, sparingly use a heat torch to pop any air bubbles, being careful not to stay over one spot too long.

Pro Tip: You can do steps 2 and 3 in one pour if you like your edges to blend! Waiting for the first portion to cure helps create a more defined section.

Step 3: Pouring the colored Resin Areas

Now for the fun part— pouring colored resin! Once the white areas have hardened to the touch, it's on to the colorful part! First, prepare the amount of epoxy resin (Parts A & B) needed. Once thoroughly mixed, separate the epoxy into small cups to add the MEYSPRING resin pigments of your preference.

In this step, we used:

Mix the colors into the epoxy resin and let the mixture sit for a few minutes or until thickened (Same as in Step 2). When the resin has already thickened, carefully pour it into the remaining areas on each egg. The cured white base and crushed glass sections will naturally help guide the colored resin into place.

Use a stir stick or gloved finger to evenly distribute the colors and ensure coverage along the edges and glass areas.

Once your colors are in place and the resin thickens, you can add texture by gently running a stir stick across the area. This adds movement and geode-inspired flow lines!

Then you can lightly torch the freshly poured epoxy to remove any air bubbles and help cell development.

Pro Tip: Easily clean up any stray resin or drips, and tighten lines with a Q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol before the epoxy fully cures. Ensure the Q-tip is fully saturated to prevent any fuzzies from getting stuck on the surface!

Step 4: Add Linework and Embellishments

Once your last pour has fully cured, it's time to add those eye-catching final details. Use acrylic-based paint markers in complementary colors to outline sections or highlight shapes. You can also add glitter liners, gilding paint, or rhinestones for extra sparkle - anything that makes you think of fun Easter Egg designs!

Pro Tip: Wait for each line to fully dry before layering another nearby to avoid smudging!

Step 5: Seal It with a Shine – Final Resin Top Coat

For that lovely glassy finish and to lock in your details, add a clear flood coat of epoxy resin over the entire surface of your eggs. You can also drizzle a little over any loose crushed glass.

Once poured, use a heat torch or rubbing alcohol to remove any bubbles and allow this final layer to cure fully.

If you prepped the back with tape or latex, simply remove for a clean edge, or sand down any drips once the epoxy is hardened. Click here for our guide on sanding resin drips!
