MEYSPRING Artist of the Month - October 2023
Congrats, Salty Robin Wood Designs!
We’re excited to introduce you to MEYSPRING’s Artist of the Month for October 2023, Tessa Salter of Salty Robin Wood Designs! Based in the idyllic scenery of Cranbrook, British Columbia, Tessa and her husband, Scott, are the ultimate duo of craftsmanship. Once Scott builds their custom charcuterie trays, cribbage boards, and more from scratch, Tessa takes it away with her artistry, pouring gorgeous epoxy seascapes on them! She always impresses us with DIY shades made with MEYSPRING Pigments that make her work stand out.

Tell us more about yourself!
I create full-time, so my daily life consists of spending time with my husband, Scott, and my artwork. Hobbies I enjoy are cooking and being outdoors, whether it be a day at the lake, camping, or nature walks with my dog Finn.
I am a Mom to three adult sons and two adult stepdaughters. I also have a beautiful baby granddaughter, Charlotte, whom I adore.
What inspired you to become an artist?
I have always been into art and different styles of art. Over my lifetime, I have done drawing, painting, pottery, ceramics, and furniture building, and now my focus is on wood and resin functional art.
I was a hairstylist for 20 years and was very much involved in color, cut, and style competitions, but I gave it up to pursue a full-time career in wood and resin.
How long have you been working with Epoxy Resin?
Almost four years with resin, eight years if you include the woodworking and furniture.
What makes/made you choose MEYSPRING pigments?
I love the array of colors, the shimmer in the sunlight, and the ease with which they mix with my resin. MEYSPRING has top-notch customer service, communication, product information and tutorials.
What is your favorite pigment color or color scheme?
My top 5 colors are Imperial Emerald, Opulent Tanzanite, Peach Gold, Rose Quartz, and Pacific Blue.
My favorite color combos would be Turquoise Blue & Pacific Blue, Rose Quartz & Peach Gold, and Imperial Emerald & Blue Calcite.
Where do you find your inspiration or motivation?
Tropical Beach and Lake destinations I have traveled to or want to travel to, as well as colors in nature and photos.
How much time do you dedicate to your resin art?
Every day for a minimum of 6-8 hours. Sometimes I get up to a 10-hour day.
What’s your favorite part of creating with resin?
I love that each piece is unique and can never be duplicated. I use the same technique with different outcomes every time.
What advice, tips, or tricks would you like to share with aspiring resin artists?
Don't give up. Practice over perfection. Knowing there’s a lot of trial and error. It's always a learning curve, and have patience! Good things come to those who work hard.
