Congrats, Lally Art!

Introducing MEYSPRING’s November Artist of the Month winner, Valérie Harris Lefrançois of Lally Art! Her creations are as vibrant and dazzling as her personality! From working as a professional makeup artist, her talents have transcended into the world of resin, crafting stunning resin pieces with MEYSPRING Pigments that reflect her love for nature, colors, and glitter. As a stay-at-home mom of three, she finds balance in her art, using it as both a creative outlet and a calming practice!

Tell us more about yourself!

I’m a stay-at-home mom of 3 wonderful boys, including 2 toddlers who just started school this year. I’m going to be 35 in December. I’m from Quebec and married to a Moroccan. I’m someone who loves beautiful things, colors, and especially glitter!

What inspired you to become an artist?

I've always had this artistic side. I think it runs in the family. My grandmother was a painter, and she introduced me to this world. As a little girl, I drew a lot and liked to reproduce comic book images. Later, I became interested in makeup. That's when I took a DEP course in professional artistic makeup. I did makeup for fashion shootings, weddings, etc. My work has even been published in 2 magazines in Washington. Then, I got pregnant with my first boy and left this job (because of having to work a lot of evenings and weekends). The years went by, and Covid arrived. I then discovered the world of resin on Instagram and decided to try it. Since then, it has become my passion. I can't live without doing it; it calms my mind and makes me feel good.

How long have you been working with resin?

I made my first project (it was a geode coaster) in May 2023. My workshop is in my laundry room! I’m doing what I can for now. Maybe later, I’ll have a real workshop; who knows!

What made you choose MEYSPRING pigments?

Since I started, I have worked with MEYSPRING pigments because they are of very good quality, mix well, and the colors are beautiful! They also have a little shiny side that I love; they are not matte.

What is your favorite color scheme?

I love Turquoise Blue and Pacific Blue. In short, the colors of the sea!

Where do you find your inspiration?

I find my inspiration in nature most of the time, from the ocean, flowers, and crystals, too!

How much time do you dedicate to your craft?

Being a mom, I can't dedicate all my time to this, but I do it when I have time for myself. I would say about 3 evenings a week.

What are your goals for your artistic journey?

I would like to give group classes in person to those who want to learn how to work with resin, or I would like to provide tables and artwork to large furniture stores. 

What is the most significant "Aha moment" you've had while creating?

It’s not an “Aha moment,” but I’ve realized that you should always trust your instincts, take your time, and stay authentic. Also, don’t rush into making multiple articles at once. We must not forget that we are not machines. As artists, we put our heart into our work, and each piece is made with care.

What advice would you like to share with aspiring creators?

I recommend doing your research first on protection, such as a breathing mask, gloves, etc. Then, make sure your room is not too humid and not too hot/too cold; otherwise, your resin will not cure well. Learn about the different types of resin depending on the project you want to do. It takes patience and perseverance. You will fail, and that's normal. Don't get discouraged; learn different techniques and tips, and seek to improve yourself!
