Tell us more about yourself!

I love the outdoors! As soon as spring hits us here in the Okanagan, you will find me and the family on the trails in the area, paddle boarding, or boating out on Kalamalka Lake with friends.

What inspired you to become an artist/woodworker?

I can’t say I was artistic all my life; quite the opposite, really. I went 49 years not thinking I had any “artsy” abilities. Then, I stumbled upon acrylic pouring and started making coasters (which is where “Drinks On Me” came from) which got me into resin, then wood, and here we are today!

How long have you been working with resin?

It's been a 4 years journey.

What makes/made you choose MEYSPRING pigments?

Many resin artists I follow used it, and the colors were just popping. I mean the blues especially; I knew I had to have them!

What is your favorite pigment color and/or color scheme?

I would have to say the Turquoise Blue. I get instant tropical vibes whenever I open that jar and see it sparkling!

Where do you find your inspiration and/or motivation?

It’s tough not to say nature, especially when the views can’t be beaten, with lakes, oceans, and mountains surrounding me. We are lucky to have a lake view from our home of Kalamalka Lake, also called the “lake of a thousand colours,” which literally changes colours each season. As soon as the summer heat hits it, it becomes a turquoise I love tremendously and is my view for a few months!

How much time do you dedicate to your resin art?

It varies depending on the market season and custom pieces. However, I don’t have a set schedule, which keeps me loving what I do.

What are your goals for your artistic journey?

Honestly, I am happy just being able to say I AM artistic, and the fact that I have turned it into more than a little hobby amazes me daily! So, I’m just going to keep “playing” with new ideas, experimenting, and having fun with it.

The best thing about my artistic journey is that my hubby and daughter are involved with me. My husband does most of our woodworking, and my daughter does woodburning on some of my pieces. So, it’s great having them “on board” supporting me and being a part of the whole process.

What is the most significant "Aha moment" you've had while creating resin pieces?

Every time I create a custom piece feels like an “aha moment.” Knowing someone has reached out to me to make them something special, I know I must be doing something right, and it motivates and inspires me.

What advice would you like to share with aspiring resin artists?

First off, research! Do your research and a lot of it! Then, once you have that info, have fun, experiment, and enjoy. Resin is a great medium to work with.
